School Routines

CRUNCH ‘N' SIP

Crunch ‘n' Sip is a break to eat fruit (or salad vegetables) & drink water in the classroom.  Each day students bring fruit (or salad vegetables) to school to eat in the classroom at a set time.  This time may vary from day to day depending upon the classroom routine.

RECESS:

By 11.00 am all students are hungry and need to eat.  With our extended recess break there is sufficient time for them to have a nutritious morning tea, visit the toilets and also have a short play.

LUNCH:

Students have more time at lunch, but often ‘skip' something.  Teachers try hard to check that they are eating enough.  If however, you find that your child is not eating well, please inform his/her class teacher so this problem can be dealt with.  Students are discouraged from throwing food away and are encouraged to take uneaten food home to show you.  Lunch boxes, drink containers and lids need to be clearly labelled.

CANTEEN:

The school canteen operates every Monday for students to order lunches.  Snacks are also available to buy and order at recess.  The canteen has other special days also.

Price lists are reviewed and sent out at regular intervals, or are available on request from either the canteen or at the office.  Bags for ordering lunches are available at the canteen.  The canteen is run by a P&C Committee.  Lunches are prepared by rostered parents and help is always appreciated.

BUSES:

Most of our students travel to and from school on buses.  If your child has a problem on the bus, please contact the bus driver, who has the main responsibility for his/her bus.  We do not have authority on the bus but we can remind students that they have a right and a responsibility to help make bus travel to and from school safe.  The bus proprietor has the authority to withdraw travel privileges from a child whose behaviour jeopardises the safety of bus travel.  Prior to catching the bus students are supervised in bus lines by the teaching staff.  The first bus departs from the school to return to Gloucester at approx 2.50pm.  The remainder of the buses leave BPS between 3.25pm and 3.40pm.
